Thanksgiving Day is the greatest holiday of the year. But between the turkey, sides and pumpkin pie, there is a lot that needs to happen, which also makes it one pf the most stressful holidays. We touched upon this in our last post. If you want your Thanksgiving to do over without a hitch, here are a few hacks. Break out your ice chest or cooler, that’s right, the very same one you used on Independence Day to store your beer. Now, add a little ice to it and you have a place to keep all those items you can’t fit in your refrigerator. You can also use your cooler to brine your turkey or insulate it with towels and foil and use it as a warming drawer. Simply brilliant!
If you don’t have a roasting pan but plenty of aluminum foil and an eye for art, you are in business. Simply crumple some sheets of foil into thick ropes and wrap them on the bottom of your pan and you now have created a structure that will keep your turkey elevated.
Slow cookers are great all year around as they enable you to make some pretty cool dishes without a whole lot of labor, but on Thanksgiving Day they are simply awesome. We recommend you buy several this holiday season. You can use your slow cookers to keep your mashed potatoes hot and fluffy, your yams warm and yummy and anything else you want to stay warm as you wait for the turkey to reach temperature.

The thermos you use to keep your coffee warm while on your morning commute has other uses. For example, clean it out, fill it with hot gravy and you have yourself a gravy server that keeps the gravy warm.
If you overcooked the turkey and really don’t want to serve a dried-out bird, simply drizzle a little warm chicken broth on it. This will add flavor and moisten up the turkey and nobody will be the wiser.
Just a pinch of baking powder will fluff up your mashed potatoes like magic.
Mashed potatoes are a Thanksgiving Day staple, but they are labor intensive. Toss your potatoes in the dishwasher and not only do they come out clean, but they are a breeze to peel. You can also boil your potatoes with the skin on them and dunk them in ice water right away, shocking them, which loosens the skin for easy peeling.
Keep your turkey moist and give it added flavor by laying strips of bacon across the top of it. Yummy!
